Summer research for students

The NIH is a beneficiary of substantial $ from the Recovery Act, which it is obligated to spend ASAP, with job creation as a specific goal. We have just been notified that investigators holding NIH grants can apply for administrative supplements, including those for the specific category of “Support for summer research opportunities for High School and College Students, or Science Educators.” If you know of students interested in lab research, this is the time to apply.

These funds will also enable investigators to hire staff. A problem is they are limited to 2 years. However, this is the window of interest for many UGs who wish to get some work experience before moving on to grad/professional school.
