I am a biology major and I would like to do some research this summer. I’ve been all over Pitt’s website and it looks like I might be too early, since they still have last summer’s dates posted. What is the best way to pursue this?

You might go directly to a professor. Find out who is doing something that you are interested in and go talk with the prof. Ask your current prof who is doing what.

A good way to see what research is being done is to go to your departments website and see what research groups exist and what areas they research in. Whatever interests you, you should follow up with (contact the professor, ask if you can work in the lab, etc.) Asking about the summer now might be too early, but if you have the time, you could work next semester too, that way you are already established with whatever work you have by the summer.
