Summer School Question

I know a lot of people like to go back home and take general education classes at community colleges.

However, I was wondering how easy is it to take major specific classes at other colleges over the summer. For example, I am a civil engineering major at Clemson and I was wondering if it would be possible to take a Structural Analysis class at lets say Northeastern over the summer as a part time student?

You need to first check with your school to make sure that they would accept the transfer credit. If they will, please understand that you will be a guest student, so no financial aid.

Pierre, here is the Transfer Equiv. List: [UNDERGRADUATE ADMISSIONS](http://virtual.clemson.edu/groups/tcel/)

If you see the school that you’re hoping to attend this summer on the list, but don’t see the exact course, then someone in transfer admissions can walk you through the paperwork to insure the course transfers back to CU. If it does, then it will go on this list for future students!

Just echoing to make sure you check it out with your school and get all your ducks in a row before paying the money for a summer school class. DS took a class last summer near where we live. Before doing so he had to get approval from his advisor as well as from the chair of the department the class was going to transfer to. Also, it had to take the place of a specific class that his college offers.

I don’t see any reason why you couldn’t do this with a class in your major but start NOW to learn what kind of approvals/paperwork is required for your school.

Check with your school and department on the course. The transfer matrix that schools provide might only refer to courses for incoming transfer students and the school or department might not allow you to transfer in courses as a matriculated student. Get something in writing preferably.
