how is the summer school?
is it difficult?
i am thinking about taking session 1 (5 wk session) taking a poli sci and anthro class.
any advice/tips?
thanks!

anyone? please?

Summer school is usually more relaxed than the school year. Polisci and anthro will be even easier than it already is during summer. Tip: take anthropology with Dr. Douglas.

I took an upper division anthropology class (anth 135A) S1 '07 while taking one other course. O’Rourke is a pretty easy professor IMO…She is very straightforward and easy to talk to. I didn’t have to buy a textbook for the class because all of the readings were all handouts or files posted on the class site. Most of her in-class assignments are for participation/attendance credit, and the most difficult/time-consuming part of her class was the field study/research paper (which I had fun doing actually). Midterm and final had multiple choice and open ended essay questions. I had trouble with some of the essay questions because I glossed over some the readings, but BSed and still got good marks. I hear all of her classes follow this trend/outline. I got an A- in the class.

I know the tentative Summer course list is up but the professors and other details aren’t. But I would definitely suggest you look up EEE under Summer 2007 (and maybe previous years) to get an idea of what the courseloads could be like. I have no clue if you have access but for example, here’s the site of the class I took: <a href=“EEE+ Home | UCI”>EEE+ Home | UCI;

And if you’re planning on taking one of Douglas’ courses, well I wouldn’t even worry at all… :)

If I take Summer classes at a community college, will UCI count the credit hours? It should be much cheaper and easier.

Yes. Check assist.org to see course equivalents from several community colleges.

Just to note, you’ll get the credit but your grade won’t factor into your UCI GPA. However if you plan on applying to graduate schools, they’ll most likely factor all of your grades from each attended school into one GPA.

what does EEE stand for?
if i take classes at UCI and don’t want the grades to be calculated into my GPA, is that possible?

Make sure you know that community college classes can be transferrable as UC elective credit, but not actual course credit.

EEE stands for Electronic Educational Environment. If you take classes as pass/no pass, it will not be factored into your UC GPA. Google up the concept and/or look in the catalogue for more information.

how are the Computer programming classes during the summer? specifically ICS 21
