Summer School

Hello,

I am a student from UIUC. I have just finished my first my first year of school :). My plans for summer is going to summer school. I plan to register for summer school with a community college. Their school only gives out the remainder of my funds from the Federal Pell Grant. Looking from my financial aid status from what i used in the fall and spring semester. It seems that i have no more money for that. So, is it still possible to receive financial aid for the college I am going to. In my FAFSA, I listed only some schools that I would send my SARS report too, but the community college wasn’t one of them. Should I list it in my FAFSA? Also, they have this waiver called Public Aid Recipients. Up to 5 credit hours free, only if financial aid has been denied.Public Aid recipients enrolling in six or more credit hours must pay applicable tuition and fees for all classes. This option
requires approval from the Financial Aid Office. According to the classes I might be enrolled in, the total credit hours I will have will be 8. So, do you guys think I could still be eligible for financial aid.

You would need to check with the community college…but usually financial aid is only for the school year…especially since you USED it for the school year.

first, you need to check with your college and make sure that they will accept the credits and allow enrollment in the community college during the summer – not all do and some have strict requirements.

Second, you have limited financial aid available to you and they are most likely depleted. Contact your university and ask what possiblities there are for additional funding for summer school – and ask them how they coordinate that funding with other schools. Federal regulations do not permit you to have financial aid dispursed from more than one school – so if you do have funds and you are switching from school to school, the FA offices usually coordinate things.

Finally – I don’t think you will be eligible for the free tuition since you weren’t denied FA, you just used it all up.

Just a question, if you need financial assistance why not do summer job to not only get some money but experience as well.
