Good luck gensis. You certainly sound more than smart enough for SSP, but hopefully you also stand out in the other areas they want applicants to. btw, how do you know your teacher recs were bad? I thought applicants aren’t supposed to read them… hahaha

you could always hold the envelope up to a light (not that i did that, of course).

lol well the thing is my physics teacher is hella lazy so he just checked perfect for everything, but his answer to the prompt was simply his prewritten rec letter that he already prepared for other programs. same with calc teacher.

My Calc teacher rec was a couple sentences about how I was in Marching Band but still maintained high test scores and a good work ethic. We don’t talk much, so that’s really all he know about me. I don’t think my chem teacher has the best impression of me, but his letter was pretty long so I’m assuming he wrote something beneficial.

For fu*k’s sake, SSP Admissions Officers, just send me my rejection letter so I can get along with my life. As long as there is this inkling of hope of acceptance, I’ll be thinking about the program all day.

^haha I didn’t read either of my letters cuz they sealed them. But I saw another rec written by one of the teachers I used (also physics). The man can’t write a letter…

Yeah, my math teacher isn’t so great with English (Vietnamese immigrant - beast at math and the sciences, but not so much at English), so he just handed me a paper with the checkmarks filled out (didn’t bother putting it in an envelope or writing any words until I pointed that out in the instructions)…

I hope they don’t put too much weight on the letters. Oh well.

Is the last week of March a probable time for receiving a response from SSP? Or is the beginning of April more likely?

From the application -

International decisions took about 40 days, so the 6-week mark doesn’t seem that far off. If they stay true to this, then the second week of April seems most likely. That’s judging it entirely from international decisions, however.

Last year, the US results arrived about 28 days after the March 15 deadline for US applicants. Then again, the estimated time last week was 3-4 weeks, so the admissions were sent out exactly according to schedule. So, if they send them according to schedule (six weeks) this year, then the second week of April seems more likely. The last week of March seems way too early when considering the 6 week time frame, so the first week of April would be early, and the second week of April would be “on time.”

Take this with a grain of salt. I’m just estimating based off of last year’s data, and the information from this year’s application.

EDIT: Also, those were the initial decisions. Some applicants had their decisions deferred even longer! In that situation, there was an email notifying them of it. At this point, there’s really nothing left to do but wait.

Thanks, mrfairladyz!
The wait is brutal…

I’m in, at Westmont. =D

Best phone call ever. (Although I did think Mr. Bowdon was some sort of telemarketer at first… then I started babbling incoherently once I recognized his name.) Still, gah, so happy! Have faith, waitlisters ;P

skipblooms, are you a US applicant? I don’t know they inform you of a decision by a phone call…

Nope, I would count as an international applicant since I’m from Canada. I got off the alternate list though, which might be why I got a call. (It was awkward… hahaha.)

You’ll probably be getting an email soon!

hey does anyone know if ssp only takes a certain number of applicants from a certain school?

It’s interesting because although I really wanted to go to SSP, after I applied at the end of January, I kind of forgot about it, and then all of a sudden I got an email from them. But I like it better that way. I do that with exams and SAT too - that way it isn’t on my mind all the time and I don’t get so frustrated. I’d recommend some of you to take a break from this forum if it’s killing you so badly :P

Haha, I do this as well with some things that are not guaranteed. I just move on, and if I get contacted later on, then it’s like a pleasant surprise.

Hopefully April will be a month of pleasant surprises.

Good work skipblooms! Congrats!
So, I’ve written a mail asking him if there are any vacant places atm. :|

Hmm. Ask when decisions come out xD

@shubhamgoelcash Thanks, and good luck! I hear that lots of people get off the waitlist every year, so hang in there. (:

I really can’t wait to put 3600 miles between me and my parents this summer. They kept telling me I’d never make it in, and now I’ll finally get a taste of what it’ll be like when I move far, far away for university. ^^

wow, 3600 miles… that sounds fantastic!

i did something sort of similar a few weeks ago: i left a message with an attendance question for this science program i do a local university and the professor called me back one afternoon when i was napping. my mom was supposed to come pick me up and for some reason “this is dr. blaer” sounded like “i’m almost there” so i said, “i’ll be right downstairs!” thereby thoroughly confusing the poor man who just wanted to tell me that no, i couldn’t miss any more classes because yes, i would be kicked out.

LOL, sounds like you both caught each other off guard. XD

Looking forward to seeing this thread explode when US decisions come out. Hopefully it won’t be much longer now…
