<p>There are many opportunities for students to do summer stock theater in locations outside of the city like Cape Cod, Maine, NH, Pennsylvania, etc. Are there similar opportunities for a kid staying in New York City for the summer? If so, where would you begin to look?</p>
<p>The opportunities in NYC are not really summer stock like… ie. traditional season of shows, small salary, housing provided, etc… There are summer training programs that student apply and pay for. Some students secure internships working behind the scenes in casting other administrative areas, etc… There are other non/ low paying performing opportunities through AEA and non-AEA showcases and small productions… most of these will audition in NYC. Backstage.com and Playbill.com are good places to look for these types of auditions.</p>

<p>lammb66 - Look at Strawhats, NETC and SETC. They all hold auditions for summerstock theatres. </p>
<p>My D has an audition slot for Strawhats in NYC in February. I don’t know if they still have spots available, but it may be worth a look. These three large auditions get many summerstock theatres in one place casting for their shows. Other than that I think you have to look at specific theatres and see when they have auditions.</p>
