Summer Visit-What else to see?

<p>We are from the midwest and will be visiting Layfayette later this summer. Would like to spend some time in the area for a little bite of a vacation while were our in the area. Any suggestions on where might be good place to stay for somewhat of homebase and things to do, other than look at colleges, in the area?</p>

<p>The Lehigh Valley doesn’t have much ‘vacation’ stuff around. When I attended, bus and car trips to Philly and NYC were pretty regular. Straight up Rt. 33 takes you to the Poconos, and there are nice resorts and waterfalls. Philly is 1.5 hours away, NYC about 1.25. Down 611 is New Hope, quite a nice artsy town. Hope this helps.</p>
