My oldest is looking at summer work opportunities – he needs to make a good chunk of money.

He has a friend who is from Norway – she told him that he could stay with her for the summer and get a job there. She told him that she made the equivalent of $12,000 last summer (so he is, of course, excited).

Anyone with any experience of summer work for students in Norway? I am not worried about him living abroad (he has tons of travel experience on his own) but I am worried that it may not be quite as good as it sounds. I asked him to check on taxes – he can work in Norway for up to 3 months with his US passport, and it seems to be fairly easy to get a work permit if he has a job.

What should he check on? What questions should he ask? I am just worried that we/he hasn’t thought this completely through.
