I also like your furniture. Rattan and/or wicker seem very sunroomy to me.
Ours is small but it is still the part of the house we use the most from May to October (it’s not winterized) because it has a view over the yard and is sunny, although you can see we furnished in it 2000! We should have updated it but we were spending money on other updates (basement 9 years ago, kitchen 5 years ago, bathrooms last year and this year). Nonetheless, this is always where we’ve enjoyed spending time the most.
Love everything about this, how large it is, the furniture, the floor to ceiling windows, the view!
Why, thank you!
Bunsen- that’s my dream. Floor to ceiling windows everywhere. I’d give up so many more house accoutrements for that feature!!
I love all the rattan.
I’m surprised at how many of you have sunrooms.I wonder if sunrooms aren’t a thing where I live. I can’t think of anyone who has one.
We have a lot of light in our house. My living room has one wall that is all large sliders that open to our veranda.
Lucky to have a room with a wall of floor to ceiling windows! Isn’t that almost by definition a sunroom? (I’m trying to imagine how it wouldn’t be: I guess if it’s the kitchen? or if it runs from the front to the back of the house and only the back of the room is sunny?)
Where do you live again??
Next best thing to a sunroom IS a sunny room!!
California
I think of a sun room as a separate room attached to the house with lots of windows rather than just a part of the house with windows. Our dining room has a wall of windows but it’s completely open to the living room and kitchen. I would love a conservatory (or an orangery as in many romance novels). You know, a place to go secretly meet amongst the trees?
Our window wall:
Having a sunroom is probably a top 10, maybe top 5 “must have” on our home list. A savior in the winter months.
Some sunroom history!
" Why do old houses have sunrooms?
Some of the early sunrooms were to be for plants and for horticulture purposes. Similar to what you would call a greenhouse in the current day. As more and more people enjoyed spending time in their greenhouse they began moving more and more furniture into the space until it became more of a living area.
“The concept of the sunroom can be traced back to ancient civilizations that sought ways to harness sunlight for both practical and aesthetic purposes . In ancient Rome, the atrium served as a central open space within a house, featuring an opening in the roof to allow sunlight to filter in.”
" What is the difference between a sunroom and a sun porch?
Screened porches are an excellent choice for anyone looking to get closer to nature and bring the indoors outdoors without breaking the bank. **Sunrooms are more like living rooms or dining rooms made of glass or PVC"
Also a fan of a screened in porch.
Me too. Some of these pics are of sunny rooms, but they seem like just regular rooms in the house with lots of windows and doors. If that is the case, the whole back of our house is a “sunroom” except…I don’t think it is!
Still, I am enjoying seeing how you folks decorate.
