Sunrooms and how you decorated them

I just got done seeing everyone’s dining rooms and now I would love to see some sunrooms. We are currently putting one on and I would love to see how some of you decorate yours. Ours is going to be 14 x16 with a wood burning stove. No pictures yet as it is still in the beginning stages.

Not pictured is a chaise lounge in the corner.

Is this an all season sun porch you are doing or seasonal??? Screened? Glassed?

I would never post a picture of my sunroom! It’s an add-on aluminum porch (3 season ) that is decades old. Our old couch and loveseat are out there, the cats hang there, and GD’s toys are there. I like to sit out there & do my NYT puzzles or read when the weather is right. It has windows & screens, so it’s usable much of the year, but with an aluminum roof it’s too noisy when it rains. It’s functional - except on days like today, with temperatures in the high 80’s - but it’s not pretty.

Four season with glass windows and screens. The room comes off of our family room and opens onto our deck. The backyard is fairly natural and private.

Gosh that sounds just like mine - but I just had my floor rebuilt and had them put some inexpensive vinyl tile in after pulling out the originally installed indoor/outdoor carpet. I had the junk man haul off my old wicker sofa, loveseat and chair because I want to replace it with some better, non-wicker type furniture - maybe teak or teak like. It’s empty at the moment, well, it’s kind of full of bugs as the door to the deck isn’t shutting well, think I need that fixed now too. Ooops - this was supposed to be in reply to abasket’s post.

Here’s my sunroom, it’s our favorite room. Our lot backs up to the neighborhood pool, tennis courts. Same furniture for 29 years, we’re just not into spending the money to update. The next owners can.

I like your furniture!

My house is 100 years old. The sunroom is a 12 month windowed-in room attached to family room and with sliding glass doors out to the deck. We use it all the time.

I love the rattan furniture - actually very “in” right now! Especially like the dining table and chairs!

Thanks, I actually like it, too. I did reupholster the furniture about 15 years ago. It all fits the room, but I still think it looks dated. Something out of the Golden Girls.

It is! Well, that’s good to know.

That’s a feature, not a bug.

I posted yesterday and deleted because I got long winded and my post didn’t make a lot of sense.

Our sun porch is a good size and can be used year around except on the most frigid Ohio days. Previous owners left expensive white wicker furniture (7 pieces) that I like well enough. I spray painted it fresh this spring and will eventually recover the well made cushions to update the furniture.

Since we are on the water (pool and river outside) the vibe is “lake house”. Lots of windows but white ceiling and walls where there is wall. White/blue/green for decor.

One thing I recommend is to think about appropriate flooring for what is outside the sunporch if people can enter that way. When we purchased this house last year there was crappy carpet on the sunporch - and a pool just outside the door - carpet and pool DO NOT mix!!! While I have a washable runner inside the sliding door from the pool area, the flooring is now LVP in a herringbone pattern - I LOVE it.

The room is fresh, comfy and feels like summer -even when it’s February in Ohio.

Lastly, PLANTS. It’s a sunporch! I kept herbs and a last summer geranium + house plants going all winter long.

Well, I call our sunroom the keeping room (no hearth, so it probably should be the sunroom instead), but I love all the light we get in here, and this is the room where I probably spend the majority of my waking hours when in the house.

As evidence that we do not live in a big house: There’s the rower, which is partially hiding the second work from home space (i.e. monitor on the old 4-person table with the leaves down). There’s a crate for a large dog that gives a sense of scale, and the tall stack of books is also partially hiding the giant plastic container of dog food (Costco-sized dog food bag). And tying in to the dining rooms thread, this is couch #1 where I end up eating when I’m eating solo.

It looks well loved, well used and warmly cozy!

Hmmm… our entire ground floor is a giant sunroom! We have more glass in the walls than drywall or wood! Living in a fishbowl of sorts, but I like it.

This is sort of how we live too. Dog stuff everywhere. And books- a comfortable life.
