SUNY at Binghamton Class of 2025 Decisions

Sorry, but must disagree. It’s completely unprofessional, and it’s the only school in our experience or that of our friends who has gone silent in this way. You should also know that the AO went silent early on when we sent an email, well before the waitlist. (And through the entire process, maybe my son sent four or five emails - including the two regarding the waitlist. She’s lazy, careless, or unprofessional or all three and nothing you can say will change our minds about that, although of course you are entitled to your opinion. She actually apologized on one occasion, which was great and totally professional. She should have responded to the emails about the wait list, there was no issue a false hope, it would have been a simple, “no decisions have been made yet thank you for your email.” I’m sorry that in your experience you have such low expectations.

Dozens of emails in a day, that’s not very many. I just laughed when I reread that!!

I disagree, and I do think you’re actually incorrect. I think responding to students who are interested in your school, even if it’s days later and a simple “I’m sorry we have not made a decision yet and cannot promise a spot to you,” is very little to ask and is, at a minimum, respectful and professional. Luckily most AOs go above and beyond and actually respond in a more timely manner, great for the student (whether they get in or not), and great for the University because you never know when paths might cross again!

At least your AO responded in a timely manner before ghosting. Totally unprofessional, and I feel for the University because the AO is a representative of the school. I’m guessing we might’ve had the same AO, because in my experience at Binghamton, most of the staff is terrific and very professional. Guessing was just one bad egg, good luck to you wherever you land!!
