My friend was telling me today that her daughter last year didn’t received acceptance til mid January. On my daughter’s portal it says decisions will be sent by January 15.
Reassuring but also means potentially 6 weeks if this. Yes it says by mid Jan but then when you hear others heard it adds to the stress and worry

I’m new to the NY state college system ( we’ve lived here for three years) but if it’s anything like Virginia, there will be absolute no rhyme or reason as to when students hear back from admissions. That doesn’t mean I’m not going a little crazed, but at least it’s familiar.
another late night email from bing… this time wishing us happy holidays at least no “check portal” button on this one! but i swear, every time my kid sees an email in his inbox it makes our hearts race! hopefully we all soon get the email we are anxiously awaiting!
Yup we got that too.
my younger brother applied during the free week in oct and was accepted nov 30. i think the merit scholarships are available to in state students as well right? or are they OOS only? i see some of you got scholarship emails 5-7 days after the acceptance, we’re trying to figure out if there’s any chance for him to get one as well or if it’s a no since it’s been 9 days!
Applied 10/16/23
Accepted 11/30/23 In state

My son applied EA for the School of Management. The portal says decisions will be provided by January 15th. Do they have different release dates for certain majors?
Anyone from NYC heard back? is it released by town/ school or major?
In-state, Long Island. I haven’t heard of anyone around here getting acceptances yet (that I know of).
some of my son’s friends in his HS and outside heard back. Does not seem to be a rhyme or reason from what I can tell… as I anxiously wait
Right there with you.
My stepson hasn’t heard as well :(. Unfortunately, although this may just be hearsay, I heard that acceptances are given first and that the longer it takes to hear back the more likely one is deferred to GA. I hope that’s not the case, but that’s what I’ve heard:
I know of a few kids who have heard back from our OOS district - still waiting over here.
I believe it’s somewhat random. We just need to be patient.
What is GA?
I wonder if anyone on here has heard but was denied? So far all of the comments from folks that have heard were acceptances, so there may be something to it…
