SUNY at Binghamton Early Action for Fall 2024 Admission

Summary

My son is at a huge HS (biggest I believe in the country) most kids apply to Binghamton and a good amount get in. Someone said “Based on last year, Bing has a hard time getting thru all the applications and even top students may get deferred to RD just bc admissions hasn’t gotten to their app yet.” Based on the discussion from last year seems like many folks are deferred and eventually get in as late as March/April. Hang in there.

My son was deferred to general admission to Watson-Mechanical Engineering. He’s a little bummed, but what can you do? His good friend with similar stats, but 10 points higher on the SAT, got into Watson-computer science tonight. Hopefully he will still get in!

No change here, we will hear tonight or tomorrow. I will have the brownie batter and ice cream ready to console any heartbreak.

Or I’m hoping you’ll celebrate

A lot of my son’s friends found out last night for SOM and got deferred. High performing kids :grimacing:

My son’s didn’t get an email that there was a status update to his portal. He checked last night and then saw a decision. He got deferred, engineering.

Yes I heard the same from my son. I told him not to worry, god always knows what’s best for him. Admissions is a crazy process. There’s just no rules that apply.

He’s still in the game

I would check at 7pm anyway. Someone the other day said they received a decision and their portal did not change. You never know!

Right

My son didn’t get into his dream school. He was upset at first but I told him what you said as well as the college doesn’t define him. Regardless where they go they’ll have great experiences. I agree the college experience has become unpredictable. Folks have talked about not getting into Rutgers but then getting into Princeton for example. It’s become a business and not a reflection of our kids worth.
