Need some advice on the two.

Which uni would have a better arch program for undergraduates in your opinion ?
The architectural facilities provided by the universities should play a big role too. Since the New Jersey Institute of Technology is situated in Newark whilst SUNY Buffalo is at… well Buffalo, NY, what do you think are the sort of things I should expect from an Urban based university vs a non-Urban based university ?

Accommodation availability for both ? Would it be hard to find an affordable apartment in Newark (student’s limited funds and all)

Overall curriculum ?

Any advice would be most welcomed
Thank you so much!

SUNY Buffalo offers a 4 + 2 program, while NJIT has a 5-yr BArch.

NJIT offers a B.S Arch degree though.
As taken from their site:

DEGREES OFFERED AT THE NEW JERSEY SCHOOL OF ARCHITECTURE

BACHELOR OF SCIENCE IN ARCHITECTURE

The four-year, non-accredited, pre-professional Bachelor of Science in Architecture degree (B. S. Arch.) prepares students to go on to graduate studies in architecture or to enter related fields such as facilities or construction management, or real estate development. The goal of this undergraduate architecture program has always been to prepare students with the general education necessary to become leaders in the world of the future and with the specific skills and knowledge required to enter the workforce today.

Indeed, it’s a non-accredited, pre-pro degree, but this allows me to enroll in a Master of Arch degree after completing the B.S. Arch. right ?

Yes, after you get the BS degree, you can continue on to a MArch. That would probably require 6 years of school to be eligible for your license vs. 5 years if you go for the BArch. There are pros and cons to each (which you can find on this board).

The total time needed to earn a Bachelor of Architecture degree (the first professional degree) at NJIT is five years. This degree is accredited by the National Architectural Accrediting Board (NAAB).

Licensing

The Bachelor of Architecture at NJIT is a first professional degree program which is fully accredited by the National Architecture Accrediting Board (NAAB). The curriculum fulfills the educational requirements of the Architectural Registration Examination (ARE), which professionals must successfully pass in order to employ the title “architect”. The ARE is a fully computerized examination which is administered on an annual basis by the Architectural Registration Boards in each state. Students who receive their B. Arch. degree are eligible to take the ARE once they have completed an Internship Development Program (IDP). This internship is generally of three years duration, with some credit given for part-time employment."

Thanks for the input :)

Can anyone tell me more bout Newark, New Jersey ? And studying there of course. Heard Buffalo gets reaaally cold during the winter :S

Buffalo’s not so bad! Promise. The coldness is exaggerated ridiculously. Chicago’s 100000000x colder.
