SUNY Plattsburgh transfer options and questions on college salaries

I need to find a college with a good accounting degree to transfer out of SUNY Plattsburgh because I missed the late drop dates and none of the schools I contacted would accept any credits from Plattsburgh (no surprise!). I have 78 credits majoring in accounting (with 36 general education credits and the rest LA or business specific).

The reason I am trying to get out fast is my friend at the school newspaper shared with me that they are anticipating not being able to refund students and may downsize or possibly discontinue majors even programs. The is the latest set of questions the President is answering in case anyone wants to know (just contact college 518 564 2400 or look up the newspaper there Cardinal Star/Points).

NEWSPAPER QUESTIONS

Q1. How is SUNY Plattsburgh able to continue operations with an “$8.4 million structural deficit” when student enrollment is decreasing [1, p. 3, 2]? In doing so are you violating endowment, trust, grant or other fiduciary agreements in order to pay your bills [1-2].
Q2. How do you intend to address numerous student complaints about refunding tuition, poor teaching, high crime rate, low college reputation and dismal career opportunities [3-131].
Q3. How do you intend to address student and employee discrimination issues [8, 16, 26, 131-136]?
Q4. How many employees have left or have been fired since you announced your $8.4 million deficit in 2018 and why [4, 16, 26, 130, 133, 134]? For example, Plattsburgh State University Student Association and Black Onyx Student Union called for resignations from you President Dr. John Ettling (knowing you make a salary of $246,064 [153]), and also from your Provost/Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Michael Morgan and Chief of Diversity Officer Dr. J.W. Wiley [25, 30, 120]? Did you or your students demote former Provost Dr. Michael Morgan back to teaching (but still making a salary of $176,997)?[153] Did Human Resource Manager Mrs. Susan Welch (who makes a salary of $107,332 [153] ) help students to write and post anonymous letters making sexual complaints about Dr. Wiley as well as conspire with Librarian Ms. Holly Heller-Ross to obtain data in Dr. Wiley’s emails for the 18 years he worked there[3, 81, 130, 133, 134, 136-140]?
Q5. Are you aware of corruption, fraud, or unethical behavior at SUNY Plattsburgh including any ongoing investigations or litigation by New York State, federal government agencies, students or others [2, 81, 141-148]? For example, was former SUNY Plattsburgh Police Chief Arlene Sabo charged with kidnapping a fellow police officer [146]?
Q6. Are you aware of any employee ethical misconduct such as for example SUNY Plattsburgh Librarian Ms. Holly Heller-Ross using New York State assets to manage her vacation properties, trust funds and social engagements[149]? Is it true that Ms. Holly Heller-Ross (who earns a salary of $124,249 [153]) was and is in a ‘special close relationship’ with Mrs. Natalie Peck, wife of Plattsburgh City Mayor Dr. Colin Read, noting that Mayor Read is a Professor of Economics & Finance earning $95,572 and his wife Mrs. Peck is Director of Development Research at SUNY Plattsburgh earning a salary of $24,811 [150-152]? Are you planning to discontinue paying Mayor Colin Read a second salary at SUNY Plattsburgh and if so who will teach his four courses in economics [153]?

WOW! I had two of my kids attend Plattsburgh. My D graduated in 2014 from a 5 year program. My son left after 78 credits, but for mental health reasons. Both of them had Dr. Wiley in the honors program and both of them liked him a lot (my kids are white and Jewish).

The drug trafficking is primarily in the town. My kids and I always found the University police to be responsive (my D was an RA for 3 1/2 years, so she dealt with them a lot).

I am so sorry to hear these things if they are true.

To answer your question, SUNY Albany has a good accounting program, so does Bing. For CUNY, you can’t go wrong with Baruch.

Thanks techmom, the suny accounting is a transfer only so totally glad i didn’t apply. I will look at albany. There is a private school called Sienna and they don’t seem to have the poor rep or safety issues that suny plattsburgh do. But I a sure your kids went there long before the school went downhill (I think they went broke that’s all).

My younger child left Plattsburgh at the end of 2016, so not really that long ago. However, every student needs to feel comfortable with the environment of the school and you seem to have a lot of concerns about Plattsburgh so it’s probably not a good choice for you in any event.

Siena is very expensive and has a Catholic orientation. My friend’s D attended the school and, 5 years out, he’s not really sure that she got value from the costly education. She’s back in school pursuing a new course at a local SUNY.
