SUNY Purchase Tuition?

I was doing some research on SUNY Purchase’s tuition price and have come to the conclusion that the in-district/in-state tuition is very much lower than the out-of-state tuition.

I live in Connecticut, which isn’t New York (obviously), but the town I live in is neighbors with Purchase, NY. It literally takes 8 minutes, by car, to get to the SUNY Purchase campus. When I went there one day for a visit day, I spoke with an admissions counselor and he said they do give a discount to people who live in Fairfield county because we are so close.

My question is, do I qualify for the in-district tuition because I live so close?

Not that I know of… You are out of state and ineligible for SUNY instate tuition, not matter how close you are. There are people who live way, way closer than I do who attend Binghamton and don’t receive instate tuition because they live in NJ or PA. This is a question you need to ask directly to the Purchase financial aid office, and if it’s true, they will tell you how to get it.

But no, just because you are close, does not mean you get a discount.

And the reason you do not get a discount is because you don’t pay taxes which gel run the schools.

The admission counselor was kinda correct:
PT not FT: OOS>Fairfield>In-State

But that’s only for part-time, non matriculated students. So unless the OP is not going for a degree and is taking a summer class or something, then there is no discount.
