Super Bowl Ad

I think the salient point is that Mrs. Tebow had the ability to make the choice that she felt was right for her, even if we may think it was a wacky, and even dangerous, choice, given the risks. Focus on the Family who is paying for this ad does not advocate a position where women would have the choice to make their own decisions on this issue.

Oh, I see, It was okay for Mrs. Tebow to have a choice, but now her son wants to take away other woman’s choice???

They should focus on their own darn family, not mine.

d’smom, not sure if your indignation is (mis)directed at my post or not but that was exactly the point I was making!

^Absolutely not! I totally agree with you. Just venting. =)

Can someone please point me in the direction of the ad? I’d like to see the ad before passing judgement. That’s only fair I think. Seems like everyone commenting here has seen it and I can’t find it. :(

^The ad has not been aired yet. It is supposed to be aired during the Super Bowl. It’s being paid for by Focus On The Family. You can google it and find all the articles and get the gist.

Oh, but then that would require a name change to Focus on Your Family, and that wouldn’t sit well with their mission; they might have to look at themselves.

Amen teriwtt!

I know a family that lives near me and the are against gay marriage, and against choice, but their 18 year old daughter has had three children out of wedlock, collects from the system and then they complain about taxes and welfare programs etc…HUH? Whenever I pass their house, I say under my breath “Focus on your own darn Family”… The hypocrisy is unbelievable. These people had the gall before the big election on prop 8 in California to claim that gay people hurt family’s. I said what???

Focus on the Family is mainly interested in taking away choice and stopping gay rights.

Thanks d’s mom. I have read about the story and caught a video of Tim Tebow talking about the ad, but no ad itself. Much of what has been written is very negative. Much like the comments here. Just want to see the ad for myself.

^ You are welcome CelticClan07.

I would like to see the ad, but I don’t think they will be releasing it until the Super Bowl. The mystique of the super bowl, lies in the ads that no one has seen before.

I think most here are negative because his mom had the choice and she chose to keep him and now he is doing an ad for Focus On The Family, which we all know is anti-choice and this is a very strange venue too air such an ad. I mean most people watch the Super Bowl for entertainment and to relax, have fun etc…not think about heated issues like this.

It won’t polarize anyone. Most people alredy know where they stand on the issue.

There are plenty of college majors that are not rocket science. Is sociology that hard? Psychology?

The difference on choice in this case is that you are choosing for another in most cases viable life (if carried to term). It’s not picking this or that dress.

Barrons, I agree that there are plenty of college majors that aren’t rocket science but those kids aren’t getting national recognition for their GPA as the nation’s top scholar-athlete either.

Absolutely! It will be a big waste of money for them because people won’t have the time or the inclination to give it any thought. I hope they play it right after the commercial with people running around in their underwear (possible CareerBuilder ad). Do they actually think people are going to stand around the water cooler asking, “What did you think of that commercial for Tim Tebow? Wouldn’t it have been awful if his mother would have listened to her doctor and Tim Tebow wouldn’t have been born and we wouldn’t have this great athlete?”

I think there are plenty of people that will think exactly that. They might not talk about but it will make some people think.

Maybe some people will think, “If Tebow’s mother had chosen to terminate, at least I wouldn’t have this sanctimonious lunkhead annoying me while I’m trying to enjoy my guacamole.” I’m just sayin’.

^Yes, I think most will think that it’s annoying too, regardless of what side they are on. For goodness sakes, this is a football game, not an election. Can you please pass the guacamole down my way!

Sure, d’smom, here it is. ::passes large bowl of guacamole and some chips::

Have some of these wings, too, they’re delicious. ::passes platter of chicken wings::

That was supposed to be :: passes the guacamole and wings. I didn’t realize I’d typed an emoticon. Sorry, sorry, sorry.

I disagree d’smom. You and Cardinal Fang beautifully laid out why I don’t agree. Everyone’s all about the food, friends, family and fun on Super Bowl Sunday!! 1 or 2, 30 sec. ads during a 4 hour show, c’mon, who’s going to notice? Now be a dear and pass me the wings and the chips, hold the guac and I’ll share my turkey chili…hand me your bowls :D

And then there are people like me who don’t even watch the Super Bowl. If we are at home I just pick up a book and read, some years we are invited to a party so I just sit and zone out.
