“I guess many would just like to live in fear…in a crime ridden neighborhood and not do a darn thing to help. GZ is getting slammed for trying to do something about his neighborhood”

Wait, what? Are you seriously arguing that all he did was try to do something about his neighborhood?

How is it that you somehow forgot to mention the death of a 17 yr old who was NOT, repeat NOT a criminal.

As many posters have pointed out, no one would want a neighborhood watch like GZ.

Here are some highlights of the National Sheriff’s Association Neighborhood Watch handbook. GZ should have known better than to do pretty much EVERYTHING he did that night.

So geeps, does that mean all the black residents of the Retreat at Twin Lakes subdivision should assume that they are considered “suspects” at all times?

“but its intent is certainly for self defense when your life is in danger”

That could be inferred, sure. But other than GZ’s statement there’s no evidence to support the notion that his life was in danger. There’s no physical evidence that TM was beating GZ … and GZ’s injuries were deemed “insignificant” by medical personnel.

The 17-year old was not innocent, after all. He attacked Zimmerman. He broke his nose. That’s not so innocent. Breaking someone’s nose is not innocent. Trayvon told Zimmerman that he was going to kill Zimmerman. Yeah, if someone was trying to break my nose and saying he was going to kill me while wrestling me to the ground and banging the back of my head against the concrete and making me bleed, I would be crazy NOT to pull out my gun. That’s what they’re for, right?

If you think this case is related to race, you are very, very mistaken. Look at the transcripts of the case.

NewHope, I don’t think you are acquainted with this case.

The prosecution has no case whatsoever. Would you expect the mother to NOT defend the son? This is race bait and Zimmerman would have been acquitted long ago had this case no received so much negative publicity.

Besides, the mother initially believed that Zimmerman had not tried to kill Trayvon, but she changed her mind after the lawyers came down from Washington.

This case is obviously biased. For example, the court does not admit photographic evidence of Trayvon brandishing guns, smoking weed, doing gang signs, etc., even though this is solid evidence that Trayvon probably had the hormones to be violent. Also, the fact taht Trayvon called Zimmerman a creepy *** cracker evidences that he had ill-will toward Zimmerman and probably hated him deeply for being white (and Hispanic). Thus, if race is involved at all, Trayvon was racist toward Zimmerman. Meanwhile, Zimmerman did not even mention race until he was prompted to do so.

There is ZERO physical evidence proving TM broke GZ’s nose. Nor is there any evidence as to what TM said to GZ. Remember, one of the people involved is now dead.

We are trying to keep this thread civil so it won’t get shut down like the last one. A lot of the stuff you are posting has been debated already. Just FYI.

“The medical report appears to lend support to Zimmerman’s claims. It also mirrors earlier statements made by Zimmerman’s father, brother and lawyer.”

“Mine can’t either. I’ve tried … really tried … to recreate that evening through GZ’s eyes. To strap on my gun and hang around by the neighborhood entrance looking for suspicious characters I can follow in the dark, carrying a flashlight that doesn’t work. I wanted to find GZ’s feeling of empowerment, but instead I just feel stupid (and my neighbors have stopped talking to me … what’s up with that?).”

Again, tomatox, we are happy to have you here but a lot of what you are posting a) is inflammatory and outside the realm of civility and b) has previously been discussed and explained. Maybe if you read through this thread and the previous one you will see where the conversation has already been.

You know sally, that’s not an excuse not to respond to what I’m saying. How am I not civil? Am I screaming? No. You’re using it as an excuse, so please just stop calling other people names.

tomatox, I see you are going into the 9th grade. People are respectfully asking you to be careful what you say here. Also, there is a long history on CC of gently requesting that posters not rehash topics that have been debated before. This is a complicated case with emotions running high on both sides. Many of us are parents who can imagine our child being TM or GZ. I am sure you can understand this. Thank you.

■■■■■ (/ˈtroʊl/, /ˈtrɒl/): a person who sows discord on the Internet by trying to start arguments and upset people. They may do this by posting deliberately inflammatory, extraneous, or off-topic messages in an online community, such as a forum, chat room, or blog, with the intent of provoking readers into an emotional response.

OK I read some of the other stuff previously, and most of it hinges on the fact that the entire case hinges on Zimmerman’s testimony, which you say is uncredible. Not so according to the lie detector.

““Did you confront the guy you shot?’ He answered, “No.” He was also asked, “Were you in fear for your life, when you shot the guy.” Zimmerman replied, “Yes.””

Unless you’re more correct than the lie detector (a day after the shooting so he didn’t really prepare for it), of course.

I’m really, really interested to see what the final verdict will be, and to see how the defense chooses to proceed with their case. It should be interesting.

I’m also going to be very interested to read the jury interviews, if they do them, to see what THEY were seeing inside the courtroom as opposed to what we are seeing out here with all the media argument.

It’s always interesting to see what the difference is. Even those who believe they are uninfluenced by the outside unallowed information-- things like the defendant’s arrest and anger management history, or Trayvon’s history-- etc… are influenced in a way the jury will not be.

“I’m really, really interested … to see how the defense chooses to proceed with their case.”

Me too. I think Atty O’Mara has done a first-rate job so far. I can’t imagine he’d simply rest without calling any witnesses. I don’t think it will happen, but I’d like to see GZ’s Dad testify. THAT would be interesting.
