<p>Sorry if this is in the wrong section. Anyways, I have a friend who never studies for ANYTHING, and still gets #1 in the regional Mathcounts competition. How is that possible? I study for 2 hours everyday, yet I can’t beat him. PS I want kid answers.</p>
<p>Either he really is a genius or he just has really good fundamentals and experience with these competitions. Regional comps aren’t THAT hard anyways. In general, I’d say the higher level math competitions rely more on the foundation you’ve been building over the years and understanding of mathematical concepts (which are time consuming to learn) rather than studying for specific types of questions, etc. </p>
