<p>*Nickels also officially announced his friendly Super Bowl XL bet with Pittsburgh Mayor Bob O’Connor today. </p>

<p>On the table from Seattle: Starbucks coffee, Larry’s Smokehouse salmon, Pike Place beer, Pagliacci pizza, Dilettante chocolates, dinner for two at the Space Needle, a compact disc sampler of great Seattle bands, and two bottles of Washington wine. </p>

<p>Mayor O’Connor is countering with a “Taste of Pittsburgh” tailgate smorgasbord that includes: Bloomfield Bridge Tavern Pierogis & Kolbassa; Nicholas Brothers Coffee; Heinz ketchup and fries; Iron City beer; Primanti Brothers famous Pittsburgh sandwich (which stacks grilled meat, coleslaw, tomatoes, a fried egg and french fries between two slabs of Italian bread), among other items. </p>

<p>“This is a great spread,” Nickels said. “We are betting the best of Seattle and Washington because we know that on Sunday the Seahawks are going to make us all proud. When they win, I’m going to donate all these great treats to Northwest Harvest to help others in need.”*</p>

<p>I’m going to be eating pizza, chips, pizza bites, and any other greasy foods I can find. I’ll complement them with large amounts of Mountain Dew and Coca-Cola.</p>

<p>Factoid: Pittsburgh supermarkets sell more ground coffee than those in any other big city - about 3.4 pounds per capita annually, according to market research firm ACNielsen. Seattle trails by a mile, sitting right at the national average of about 1.9 pounds a year.</p>

<p>So apparently Pittsburgh residents haven’t discovered the joys of Starbucks, Seattles Best, and all the other gourmet coffee specialty shops. I buy my coffee at a coffee shop. Gonna have to try that Alito blend!</p>

<p>You can’t spit in Pittsburgh without hitting a Starbucks or other coffee shop. Also, Starbucks and Seattles Best, along with other premium coffees (beans and ground) are sold by the bag in grocery stores everywhere.</p>

<p>Waving the Terrible Towel in this house. But don’t have a clue about chow yet. My wife and I may watch it alone or we may invite a few people over. If we do have guests, we’ll have to upgrade to snacks to who-knows-what. On second thought… Pot Luck Snacks sounds good to me :)</p>

<p>This city is isane with it’s steeler fans. You can’t walk down the street without seeing a “Go Steelers” sign or a marquee saying, “Here we go Steelers” I absolutely love it actually. So it’s pretty obvious who I’m rooting for.</p>

<p>We had to have our city pep rally on Thursday instead of the traditional Friday. Why? So all of the Steeler fans traveling to Detroit could leave on Friday and not miss it!</p>
