Superleague

I just learned this word, and I think that it is perfect for a group of schools. Let’s vote 8 schools in this league. The rules are

1.) add your 8 votes to the schools listed
2.) if you want to add a school, simply add it to the list.
3.) US schools only.
4.) The schools with top 8 most votes will be in.

Let me start with

Caltech -1
Chicago -1
Columbia -1
Harvard - 1
MIT - 1
Princeton -1
Stanford -1
Yale -1

Caltech - 2
Chicago - 2
Columbia - 2
Harvard - 2
MIT - 2
Princeton - 2
Stanford - 2
Yale - 2

In other words, I completely agree with your list.

Well seeing as the list consists of 8 of the top 9 USNWR schools (UPenn isn’t included), what’s the point of this? To show how obsessed we are with these stupid rankings?

Is this for overall school reputation? Undergrad only? Grad school only?

Here’s my 8 if we’re only talking about undergrad…

Caltech - 2
Chicago - 3
Columbia - 2
Harvard - 3
MIT - 3
Princeton - 3
Stanford - 3
Yale - 3
Dartmouth 1
Duke 1

I would have two superleagues (in no particular order within each league)

superleague A
Harvard, Yale, Princeton, Stanford, MIT, Caltech

superleague B
Columbia, Chicago, Duke, Dartmouth, Penn, Cornell, Brown, UC Berkeley, Williams, Amherst, Swarthmore, Pomona, Harvey Mudd

and here is the reasoning: If you are going to add Columbia and Chicago to superleague A then you really should add Duke, Dartmouth and Penn (yes lesdia and hawkette, I actually said something good about Duke). If you are going to add these three then you really should add Cornell and Brown. UC Berkeley belongs in a superleague someplace. Then there are the almighty LAC’s, WASP+H/M, which actually take students away from HYPSM.

Caltech - 2
Chicago - 3
Columbia - 3
Harvard - 4
MIT - 4
Princeton - 4
Stanford - 4
Yale - 4
Dartmouth- 1
Duke- 2

Voted for HYPSM, Caltech, Duke, Columbia

Isn’t this a bit arbitrary? I echo JohnAdams12’s sentiments…

Oops sorry I just realized I forgot to add one to Caltech, so here it is:

Caltech - 3
Chicago - 3
Columbia - 3
Harvard - 4
MIT - 4
Princeton - 4
Stanford - 4
Yale - 4
Dartmouth- 1
Duke- 2

Voted for HYPSM, Caltech, Duke, Columbia

Criteria: Total university

Caltech - 3
Chicago - 4
Columbia - 4
Harvard - 5
MIT - 5
Princeton - 5
Stanford - 5
Yale - 5
Dartmouth - 1
Duke - 2
Berkeley - 1

When does the voting end? :)

It is good to know that I picked 8/9 fron USNWR, I don’t read it, but you do… I believe the cross-admit info. And also, it is not a ranking but to form a “league”.

It is too complicated. Let’s keep things simple. We have

H
HYP
HYPS
HYPSM
Superleague

Overall.

So far, the Superleague is

Caltech
Chicago
Columbia
Harvard
MIT
Princeton
Stanford
Yale

P.S. I got the name from

Columbia - 5
Harvard - 6

Princeton - 6
