I know Yale’s website says that letters usually clutter the file but a letter from the adult sponsor of three (yes three and not a relative) shouldn’t be a problem, right? This person will clearly provide a whole different level of insight about me that a teacher probably couldn’t.

if you think it provides an extra dimension to you as an applicant, then go for it.

If I sent in a supplemental recc via snail-mail what would be the best way for me to find out if they received it?

you shall never know!!^

dixon, did you already send it? otherwise, registered mail is way to go.

certified mail ftw

yes, certified*

I did already send it; I actually sent it a long long time ago, October 31st >.>

I only ask now because when I sent in subsequent information I had my Eli account number and used fax and when I sent in my supplemental letter I just mailed it to the undergrad admissions office and used my common app number since I didn’t have my Eli account number back then.

It should be fine. as long as you have your name/address/etc they can look you up and just stick it in your file.

Hmm, but is there any way I can verify that they received it? The letter was the best out of all of my letters and had some really valuable information that I am pretty sure was not mentioned in the other 3.

Email them or call them after a week or two.
