Supplement Essay question

for the option with the empathy quote from Cornel West - when the prompt says “use it as a starting point,” does that mean i should insert it in the beginning of the essay and start my writing with my feelings about this quote, then elaborating? or can i omit the quote at the beginning and simply discuss my topic, connecting to the quote later on in the essay?

thank you!

any ideas?

You can insert it wherever you would like, but I think it is essentially saying that you’re essay’s focus should start around that quote. So perhaps you could open, state the quote, elaborate on it’s meaning, etc. Whether or not you stick to deciphering the quote for the entire essay, or branch out into a wider message/meaning is your own call.

Good luck, do well!
