Supplement Forms

Who turns these to the colleges?

Do I give envelopes with the mailing address of the schools to the teachers/counselors or will they do it themselves?

Also, when is it a good time to send these? Same time you send the common app/school app?

If you’re talking about the counselor/teacher rec forms, there are two options:

1.) Paper: Select “offline” or the “paper” option on CommonApp, and it will give you a PDF link to print out and give to your counselor/teachers. You need separate copies for each school. They can be mailed in at any time, preferably well before the deadline and even before when you submit. Generally, giving envelopes with addresses and stamps is a courtesy, although your school may have a different policy, like just paying a $2 fee per school or something.

2.) Online: Select “online” and then type in the e-mail address if your counselor/teacher wants this option. A link will be sent to them and you will be able to find out when he/she has uploaded it - and the letter will always be there even if you randomly decide to apply to a school last minute. These letters will be sent when you submit your app.

Keep in mind that one of your teachers can choose paper and the other online, but a single teacher can’t send one school paper and other schools online (at least for CommonApp) - he/she needs to stay consistent. Hope this helps!
