Hello! I am applying RD to UChi, and have a quick question about the extra essay. I know that there are no official “rules” to writing this, but I was wondering if it would be good/acceptable for me to write mine in this format:

Fav. Books: blahblahblah

Brief paragraph on FAVORITE book

Fav. Movies: blahhh

Brief paragraph on FAVORITE movie

…and so on and so forth. I have interesting quips for each of my absolute favorites, but idk if this is okay (it’s like a page and a half) any suggestions are welcome…gracias

*****by “blahhhhh” i mean brief list of favorites

One of the “create your own” categories you might want to do is personal heroes. Format it however you want, but I would keep it brief.

Great idea! I’m just scared it’s going to be too long…i dont want the adcoms having to read pages and pages of crazy details about my life

Right. That’s exactly what you want to avoid. Show interesting/unique favorites but don’t make it burdensome

hmm maybe ill skip out on my paragraphs (tear, tear…)

It’s up to you. Here’s a sample from mine.
