<p>I think the general consensus on college essays is that the topic doesn’t matter so much, but how you write it makes all the difference.</p>
<p>Ok, is it bad to talk about things like alcohol? I was thinking of doing something lighthearted tying alcohol/parties with cooking…too far? Should I stay away from mentioning my illicit activities?</p>
<p>^^ You could argue that underage drinking is not a big deal but writing about it in your essay would indicate poor judgement on your part.</p>
