Supplementary Essay Question

Hello, I just completed my supplementary essay and after editing the most I could, my essay ended up with 645 words instead of the 500 that are recommended. Is it bad if i submit it at that length? I don’t think I can cut more words.

I’d be willing to wager that it could be edited down to 500. Try again

You are wrong, you can edit it down.

Make it a game, see how far you can go. Take two sentences and kill one. Combine that long seven word phrase into a more efficient three word phrase (with better word choices). Be courageous and drop that one superfluous statement.

When you write “show”, and not “tell”, you’ll find your essay shortens considerably.

My son’s essay was 100x better after 2 weeks of trying to edit it down. It took a lot of work, but well worth the effort.

Good luck!
