Supplementary recommendations

Hi all!

I’m thinking about sending a supplementary recommendation from my ballet teacher to colleges. I know that for most, I can submit supplemental recs through the CA, but for colleges such as Brown, Columbia, Barnard, Wesleyan, there’s no option to attach a supplemental one. For those colleges, should I mail the rec in as a letter or do they not care for supplemental recs at all?

Can the ballet teacher mail the rec instead? That would be most optimal.
If you mail it, then colleges might think that you saw the rec, which will make the rec significantly lose its value.

I wrote a letter for the son of a friend.

I emailed it to his guidance counselor, to be included in his packet when they send it out.

To your original question: yes, recs can be mailed directly to the admissions office. Simply state clearly the name, HS and city,State of the applicant.
