I too have followed the threads but never posted. I have lit a candle for sunrise.

I love that writing, hayden. Thanks for sharing.

That is beautiful Hayden and I feel true.

That is absolutely lovely… I cannot help but think of Late to School in being part of Sunrise East’s journey and I can’t help but think there will be a pair of red heels awaiting her…

I have quietly followed the two threads. Thank you, Sunriseast, for your inspirational postings. May peace be with you and your family.

I also followed Sunriseeast’s thread and battle. She is an amazing person and her love and strength will live on in her sons. Go in peace. I will light a candle.

Just wanted to say that I, too, have found Sunriseast (and this entire thread) to be so, so inspiring. I like the idea of performing acts of kindness in her honor!

Hayden, I love that poem. Maria Shriver read it at Tim Russert’s memorial service. Didn’t know it was attributed to Bishop Brent. The imagery is special, indeed.

Bless you, Sunrise. Comfort and peace to your family. Candle lit. Prayers prayed.

[Group SR Candles - Light A Candle](<a href=“Light a Candle - Grateful Living Practice - Grateful.org”>Light a Candle - Grateful Living Practice - Grateful.org)

381 candles lit to send love to Sunriseeast since Tuesday.

I add a second one this evening from the Shenandoah Valley.

I will also light a candle here at home at 10.

thinking of you

Thank you everyone for the quotes and poems. It’s hard to be so full of feeling with no way to express it. Still I am learning here.

Lighting a candle and saying a prayer for sunrise.

Thinking of coldad and their sons.

Just lit a candle

I just lit another virtual candle, and my frosted cupcake candle is lit in celebration of Sunrise’s life. I am remembering my own experiences with loved ones’ end of life - experiences that, while difficult at the time, are among those I treasure most. I wish the same for Sunrise’s family and friends.

Another candle lit at 10 p.m. for sunrise, coldad, sailingwest, and younger son. Continued prayers for a peaceful journey for sunriseeast. My her family always be inspired by beautiful memories of her, just like we are here on CC.

Thinking of sunrise and her family.

Standing vigil, basking in the warmth of your glow, dear sunrise. Wherever you are, the sun surely shines.

I am also one of Sunriseeast’s IRL friends. Her S1 is a very close friend of my younger son. I first got to know SR when our sons were in high school. I used to drive him home on days when both he and my son had to stay after school, and took such delight in eavesdropping in on their conversations. There is a kind of strong and good synergy between them fueled by a keen intellect and curiosity about the world that is really special and it is clear that they will be friends for life. So I figured that there must be something special about his parents to have a kid like that.

Last night and now tonight as I have sat reading all of your CC posts, I have shed many tears, as I “meet” you and am moved by your loving words for SR and her family. And many thanks to her RL family and friends for helping CC people have a fuller picture of SR’s wit, intelligence, courage, grace, strength, and loving heart.

I sat with SR on Sunday evening. She was not conscious then so I sang several songs to her that I adapted on her behalf. I thought I’d share the lyrics from two of them with the hope that they might give comfort to others.

Song 1: Adapted from “It’s a Joy to Get to Know You” from “Songs for the Inner Child” by Shaina Noll. To hear her version go to: [Shaina Noll ~ It’s a Joy to Get to Know You ~ Song for the inner Child - YouTube](<a href=“Shaina Noll ~ It's a Joy to Get to Know You ~ Song for the inner Child - YouTube”>Shaina Noll ~ It's a Joy to Get to Know You ~ Song for the inner Child - YouTube)
“It’s been a joy to know and love you; been a joy to know and love you.
And I feel so very blessed that you came into my life.
Repeat.
When your heart is deep and quiet, I can hear it so clearly,
Calling so humbly to share in your love.”
Repeat.

Song 2: Adapted from “Our Meeting is Over” from “A Circle is Cast” by Libana. (To here their version go to: [url=<a href=“Sisters, Now our Meeting is Over - YouTube”>Sisters, Now our Meeting is Over - YouTube]Sisters, Now our Meeting is Over - YouTube/url
“Sister, now our earth time is over; Sister we must part.
And If I see you no more in this life, I will love you in my heart.
We’ll each sail for the shore.
And we’ll land on the shore.
And we’ll stand on that shore in Love’s Light forever more.”

No matter what one believes comes (or doesn’t come) next for SR, it is so hard to have to say good-bye to her. I am so grateful for the vigil and the love behind it all for SR and her family.

Coldad, S1 and S2, know that our family is here for you. We love you all.

bentshaftpaddle, your songs are lovely. Thank you for sharing them.

I have lit my candles for sunrise.

bentshaftpaddle- That was lovely. Thank you for sharing.

Tonight I lit another candle for Sunrise and her family. I spent the day with a dear friend in a tough battle in the chemo room of our hospital. She is scared and thinking of her children, just like Sunrise. Today as I held her hand I thought of Sunrise’s IRL friends and family who walked the journey along with he, lifting her up. It inspired me to to be fully present with my friend. Peace.

Earlier this evening I was at a shiva minyan for the father of a good friend. I found this poem as we were going through the service:

Love doesn’t die,
People do.
So when all that’s left of me is love,
Give me away.

from Mishkan T’filah for a house of mourning (CCAR)

When I came home and checked here, I found you all talking about sharing love through good deeds in honor of sunrise.

Perfect.

I just lit a candle for sunrise. So very sad.
