Suppose You're On A Desert Island....Just For Fun

Ok I am not going to overthink this like some of y’all  (vodka for antiseptic? There’s a drink machine on a desert island, this is clearly a fantasy situation!)

Decaf latte
Vanilla milkshake
Cranberry&club soda
Miso soup
Constant comment tea

The only beverages I drink are water, milk (in cereal), and gatoraid/poweraid (after heavy sweating). On a desert island, this may change. It’s not clear that there is adequate food supply, so I might be concerned with calories and nutrition, so I’d also include some type of high calorie liquid, with a lot of vitamin/minerals added, such as palatable favor of Ensure/Boost. I’d also choose liquids that could be useful on an island for other reasons, such as liquid soap, shampoo, antiseptic, etc.

From the OP…

When did liquid soap, shampoo, antiseptic become “beverages”. Beverages are things you can…drink.

The post also said, “Just about anything you can drink in a glass counts that is in liquid form.” It’s not a traditional beverage, but technically you “can” drink it in a glass (many non-toxic options), even if that is not the intended usage.

I would like to add bullion. But, not enough fingers.

Then I’m switching out half-n-half for malted milkshakes.

Also, as this is “just for fun,” I don’t think any of us need to be concerned about survival items/tactics. I’m assuming the only thing missing on this island is beverages.

If I can get Lactaid, then I’m also in for milkshakes.

Good thought on the high calorie/nutrient drinks. While i get the liquid beauty aids I think I states beverages in the beginning? At least I hope so!

Edited to say “oops” cause thumper already mentioned above

This is totally for fun and creativity  And to hear what you all have in your beverage stations

Vodka
Peach schnapps
cranberry juice
orange juice
Grenadine

Sex on the beach ingredients.

I am fascinated that everyone but me chose diet Coke, as opposed to regular. Why is that? I drink it because I have to in order not to gain weight, but it’s sure not my preference.

I drink mostly water, but if I needed to name an additional five:

  • coffee
  • green tea
  • chamomile tea
  • Pinot Noir (preferably from Oregon)
  • Cabernet Sauvignon

I stopped drinking pop (soda to the rest of you) years ago & no longer have any desire to drink it.

I’m 5’2’, and about 20 yrs ago weighed close to 200 lbs. Regular Coke has a lot of empty calories, so I switched to diet. I drink diet everything, now, and won’t go back.

I have always preferred Diet Coke over regular Coke. Regular is just way too sweet.

Since we’ve got water, I’m assuming we have a way to heat the water. Thus, even though I mostly drink tea (hot & cold and always unsweetened), none of my fingers are going to dispense tea because I can add my tea leaves with various flavors to the water and save my fingers for other beverages. So, on to the zanier stuff:

  • Thai iced tea (it has stuff besides tea leaves and water, so I need a finger)
  • Mango lassi
  • Cookies & cream shake
  • Hot chocolate
  • If I’m solo on the island, then maybe raspberry wine or pinot grigio or pinot noir. If I’m with my family, then fresh-squeezed passion fruit juice. Actually, it might be the passion fruit juice whether I’m solo or not.

My Walmart Neighborhood Market has it

almond milk (more calcium, fewer calories)
Spindrift seltzer
Beet and blueberry smoothie (I know it sounds gross, but it’s good)
Tomato basil soup
Orange&mango juice (the kind you buy already blended)

I would choose some beverages for pleasure, like a tasty red wine, coffee with cream and vanilla milk shake (because obviously I’m not watching my weight on a desert island). But then I’d choose some things that would be life sustaining, since I’m in a desert island and there might not be food readily available. Perhaps a protein shake made with many different fruits, and a vegetable protein shake with many added nutrients.

The last two keep me alive, and the first three make me want to stay alive.
