Surely we’re not the only ones at Dancewave this weekend!

@emilyhuntnelson yes, D will complete the information as well and plans to go on 2/8 to learn more about the program. She is interested in it because of the triple emphasis.

And yes, this process is something else!

@elmom25 they have a great program and we have a friend graduating this year that has nothing but awesome things to say! I wish it was higher on my daughters list! In state would be nice…

Received email that D was accepted to Cornish from Dancewave. D did not audition for them and did not apply- wondering if anyone knows anything about this program?

My D also… But I know nothing about it. Don’t even remember them being at dancewave

Yeah us either. Interesting - don’t think my D is interested they’re all the way in Seattle.

Maybe some schools are working their way down this list and now sending offers to students that didn’t give them resumes? We got two offers today, from Cornish and Steps on Broadway, neither of which my dd auditioned for.

I have seen Cornish mentioned on top lists of dance programs, but I don’t know anything about it. But my dd has no interest in going that far away AND the last thing we need at this point is another school to apply to!

lol yes agreed. we’ve already applied to 12 schools- so we’re done in that department.

yeah i guess some schools are reaching out now to dancers that they liked that didn’t apply to them to try to recruit some.

Anyone receive anything from Temple? We heard from them today. Does anyone have any information about the program? The representative had discussed the opportunity for dance majors to have a second major.

@massmom72 my dd was accepted to Temple and we are planning to go to the dancer for a day and audition on Dec 6-7. She is very excited about the program, especially the strong African component. When we talked to the rep at Dancewave, she emphasized their focus on helping students develop their individual artistic voice, which feels like a great fit for my dd.

For those who received a waiver for the audition fee at Montclair State, where did you input the code? There’s a link on my dd’s portal to pay for the audition (although the audition requirement is already checked off), but once you click on it, we haven’t been able to figure out how to do anything but enter payment information.

I don’t know, we accidentally paid for the audition and waiting to be refunded.

Just got an email accepting my D as a dance major at Buffalo. We did not apply there. Anyone know anything about the program?

@gmfalv Buffalo is in the top three for my DD. I only know that it is a versatile program and one of the few that has a strong jazz program. My DD’s friend graduated from their program and loved it. She is also able to double major, which was important for us. She was accepted through dance wave as well, we are now just pending academic acceptance.

DD also got email from Buffalo with acceptance. It was a program initially on her list due to the triple emphasis, but she has since ruled it out due to distance from home and the extreme cold. I was born in Buffalo, so I definitely get that. Lol

What is your experience with how long it takes to hear from Point Park about a decision after auditioning? Also do you receive an email, letter, or both? My DD auditioned Nov. 2 and they said it would be about 2 weeks. We are super anxious to hear the results!

wondering if anyone applied to YoungArts for Dance? I heard notifications have begun and will continue through next week. My D applied for Modern/Contemporary and we’re anxiously awaiting the results!

Good luck to anyone who applied!

My D auditioned at Dancewave and got her acceptance about 2.5 weeks later

My D auditioned at dancewave and was accepted today. she was accepted academically last week

FYI my dd got an acceptance from Towson today based on her Dancewave audition. She also got an acceptance last week from UArts, waiving her application fee. So clearly some of the acceptances are slow to come in!

D received Towson BFA acceptance today so now she needs to apply academically…had ruled out due to distance and the fact that we had assumed that she would have to re-audition after Dancewave. Getting an outright acceptance makes such a difference. Plus tuition is much more affordable than Ohio State and Illinois (37 versus 47/50).

Auditioned at Umass Amherst Friday and ran into a dancewave mom and daughter. Mom was saying that Ohio is the big destination for many of the New Jersey dancers these last couple of years. The program and academics in general have an excellent reputation and the dancers love the big school sportsmanship feel.

D also auditioned at Connecticut College Monday and was wowed by David Dorfman who ran the audition and watched each solo. Everyone was so welcoming. Such a beautiful campus too. The pricetag though!

We decided to reschedule D’s “call-back” audition to Montclair to January 28th…was worried about her taking too many days off from school and the fact that she is still healing from a toe injury.

For those who went, how was the Montclair audition? How many dancers? How many cuts before solos?

She didn’t make the cut for Point Park. And they refused to allow her to re-audition. Probably for the best. One of the male dancers at our Nutcracker didn’t think it would be a good fit for her anyway.
