Yeah Gold Award-ers! Except I hate the Girl Scout organization…gar, makes me so mad. What do you think about this new “Studio 2B” or whatever program they’re making?

Anyways… you’re numbers and ECs put you right in there with the applicant pool, so no problems there. I think UChicago places a lot of emphasis on their crazy essays, though, so it’s hard to say anything without knowing about your essays.

I was already past the Studio 2B stuff when they started… stuck to good old fashioned Scouts

I am good at creative writing, so I think the essay shouldn’t be a problem. I’m thinking of writing something super-descriptive about my small Russian hometown as my he’lade. Though I don’t know if that’ll be crazy enough for them…

Anyways, my essays weren’t really that crazy either… so I at least yours’ll probably be crazier than one person’s! I’d say you stand an A+ chance.

Umm…if you don’t write “I HATE YOUR SCHOOL” in the essays, you will get in. How insecure do you have to be to ask us for an opinion? It should be obvious that you are in to anyone who has racked up 236 posts here. This is one of those chances posts that are so ridiculously perfect that I at first believed it to be a joke to make everyone else feel bad.

Ah, now, it’s just a little self-affirmation here. Yes, chances threads don’t make much sense, but it’s just away to relieve stress and DO something. There’s so much in the college process we can’t control that it’s nice to have something we can turn to.

drummerdude - are you kidding me?? I have read many posts with perfect stats that made me want to cry, and mine is not one of them. But I’m certainly flattered you think so; I was honestly asking for your opinion. I’ve just discovered Chicago recently, and for a school with such high standards, I thought this would be a “reach/match” for me. I wouldn’t be posting if I thought I would get in. I have my doubts. Especially since I can’t spell =).

And you are right: I am totally insecure. And dear Candidate made it worse: I now check over my posts like ten times for errors. :)

Don’t worry about spelling. The smartest kid I know in my school has the worst handwriting i’ve ever seen and can’t spell at all. And yes, my school sucks that bad. And I was probably overreacting with the perfect. The SAT scores are excellent, but not mindblowing. But with Chicago, given your other stats, that is not going to make a difference at all.

Dearest Candidate A,
“Maybe learn to spell?” Do you realize how ridiculous it is to question the intellect of somebody with the scores and background of the original poster? No need to respond; that was rhetorical.

Good point. So after I become president and founder of my own “Aspiring Authors” (club?) can I question her intellect? No need to respond, that was also a rhetorical question.

That’s the only one I saw on any of her posts… I don’t think it’s enough to warrant a comment, though… but oh, well, we’re all a little stressed. :)
