Surprised about rejection?

Hey everyone,

when the class of 2015 decisions came out last saturday I was really upset and surprised I didn’t get into SD. Of course it’s tough to get into, now more than ever. But I was over the average UC GPA with a 4.1, and over the average SAT with a composite 2100.

Extra curriculars: I had 1 club position (director of debate, JSA), but was also really into music for my main extra curricular. I was in two different orchestras, did a 2 week stay away program over the summer in Philadelphia, and did chamber music, practiced daily, and my private teacher is assistant principal of the LA Phil’s cello section.
AP’s: Euro 4, US 5, Eng Lang 5, Physics C Mech 3.

Should I call them? Appeal? I really don’t have any new info to show them, just (what I thought was) good old information.

I just really liked SD because of the college system, the area, great education (econ major), and it would have allowed me to still be involved musically with their great cello professor there (who my cello teacher strongly recommended).

Maybe they could tell me why I didn’t make the cut?

Thanks

Patrick

I believe you can call them and they will tell you how many points you received in their point system. And maybe they’ll even tell you more specifically how many points you were awarded for particular sections.

sorry, forgot to include my sat 2’s: Lit 720, US 760

@fishygosplash–I’m tempted to do that tomorrow. I think I will. Although I heard their point system is pretty much gone now, in favor of a more holistic approach, I read on another thread here.

Yeah, I read that they’re getting rid of it next year. But it’s not like that’s related to your rejection  I’m pretty sure they used the point system this year. And for borderline students, they added also a holistic review.

pnuttercello (random question since I saw JSA), are you in SoCal region? O_o and are you state or regional director? and sorry to hear about your rejection ): some really qualified people were rejected this yr x.x
