OpenAI caught an employee allegedly planting a spy device in a conference room, presumably through a surveillance camera keeping watch. There was also a claim about using AI to find the suspect, although that was probably more about searching recorded footage and image recognition.
But it does highlight how accessible surveillance and spy devices have become. What is available now to governments, businesses, and individuals probably goes far beyond the wildest dreams of the Ministry of State Security of the German Democratic Republic.

This employee is a Saudi national. I do not support painting all people from a country with a single brush … but the guy planted a listening device, so my spidey senses definitely kicked in when I read about this. This is particularly concerning:
He was arrested three days before he, his spouse and a third unnamed family member were set to depart on a one-way flight to Saudi Arabia via Istanbul.

I just saw a story on CNBC - he also works for a Saudi company and has worked with members of the Royal Family.
This wasn’t a low level guy.
Thoughts from stealing - to spying to stealing to ensuring the Royal Family’s investment was safe.
All are possible I suppose + various other things.
