@abasket I really like that wallet you linked. My boys’ wallets don’t currently need replacing but I’m saving that link to my Amazon wish list for future use.
My Travelambo wallets (mentioned upthread) arrived today and I’m very pleased with them. The quality looks good and the price was very nice.
Almost all of my guy friends (late 20s) have wallets.
Yeah, they have card holders on the back of their phones but those only carry 2-3 cards at the most. Wallet for the rest.
The wallets were a hit! They were excited to have a thin wallet as opposed to the traditional tri fold. They also said it would be good for carrying their subway card.
@abasket - Thanks for reporting back. Glad they were a hit!
My 14 year old nephew seemed surprised and pleased with his new wallet as well.
I just had a gaggle of boys here and most used their cell phones to store cards and ID. The one who had a wallet lost it en route here.
My 19 year old D uses a lanyard only.
Glad these were a hit.
Our son has used a wallet since middle school for his school ID and to carry his lunch money. When he turned 15, there was social pressure to get their Drivers’ Learner’s Permits and all of the “underage” kids stuck their permits in their wallets just in case Mom or Dad let them drive. They like them slim.
Our daughters use the small Kate Spade phone pocket or slim card holder.

Must be a geographic thing. HS’ers in our neck of NJ don’t use wallets. They use card holders that stick to back of phone to hold their ID, debit card and cash… something like this…https://www.amazon.com/s?k=phone+card+holder&ref=nb_sb_noss_2 In fact, most have a HS branded one, or favorite sports team.
My son uses a cardholder, and not a wallet. His GF just recently bought a cardholder, and said “It’s a life changer.” She’s happy to just have a couple of cards, and not a bulky wallet.
It’s also possible to have/use both - cardholder and a wallet. Different situations may call for one option over the other.
Whatever, the ? was asked in general and as it turns out for the purpose of these gift receivers it worked out well!
My son did not carry a wallet of any sort at 15. He started around 17, but taking one of my old wallets. He took one of my new unused wallets a few months ago. He keeps very little in it, but he likes having a wallet on him “just in case”. I think he’ll probably move to this type soon.
I didn’t have a real wallet until I graduated high school and started college. I didn’t have a need for one, because I rarely had any money, I had no credit cards, and I carried my license in my pocket.
@abasket, please don’t think I was “dissing” wallets. Just wanted to let people know that people like cardholders now too.
I couldn’t live without my wallet, and my other son uses neither, and hasn’t done a great job keeping track of important cards, that’s for sure.
