great article marite, thanks for sharing… What a shame her mom isn’t hear on Earth to see this. I’m so happy for Susan. it took alot of courage to come forward after all this time of being in the shadows of life.

She was indeed excellent and may serve as a lesson to those who are too quick to jump to conclusions based on one’s appearance. I hope she goes on to win the show.

Of course, I was just kidding about lack of talents in our our country. America has some incredible talents, too. Look up Donald Braswell on YouTube. He should have won last year’s America’s Got Talent.

marite, great article; thank you for sharing it.

I think Cowell wasn’t kidding when he said he knew she’d be extraordinary. The people who come on the show have already auditioned, so someone knew what she sounded like before she walked out on that stage. I have never seen Britain’s Got Talent, but the questions Cowell asked seemed very… well, not off-the-cuff, let’s say.

This in no way takes away from Boyle, mind you! Hers is a voice I’d love to have!!

Her voice may be a little less than it could be with training but the article Marite posted explains that she hasn’t sung much at all in 2 yrs, since the mother she cared for passed away. She had been in a church choir so she had some training (although church choirs being what they are…). Phenomenal voice, though. I hope she goes all the way!

Only change they should make is to work with a vocal coach, to make that extraordinary voice the best it can be.
Appearance? Wouldn’t change a thing! Her appeal is in her unassuming, ordinary look. Why make her cookie-cutter like all the others? (Although D2 did try to use tweezers to get at those brows; screen got in the way.)

OK, I watched her on youtube – then spent the next HOUR AND A HALF listening to Paul Potts, Pavorotti, the Three Tenors and Andrea Bottelli (?) on youtube.

Thank you cc. I was worried I don’t spend enough time on the computer ;)

I read that Herald article posted, I am not sure I would describe her as shy, she had stage presence and I thought she was sassy. I like that btw.

What a beautiful voice! What usually happens to people who are “discovered” on these shows? Do they often end up with performing careers, record contracts? I certainly hope she gets something.

I agree that she did not seem shy. She was quite confident of her singing, and she seemed very assured onstage. It’s hard to believe that her voice is untrained.
