WHAT INCREDIBLE TALENT! This video blew me away and brought tears to my eyes! Anyone wanting to experience an emotionally uplifting “feel good” moment needs to see this video!

My Yahoo! home page carried the story and video. Truly an incredible talent. It said Simon Cowell’s people have already been in contact with her. I bet the next time we see her, the hair, makeup, etc. will be VERY different. And here comes the personal trainer!

I was thinking about posting about Susan. If you go through youtube, be sure that you see the longer versions. Simon’s reactions are definitely worth watching. Talk about a life changing experience for someone. Wow!!! She is going to be known all over the world. I would purchase her CD just because she is a just discovered 48 year old. Could she win a Grammy for best new artist of the year?

The audience, too. The smirking young women before she sings. I also loved it when Amanda’s jaw literally dropped. Piers appears to be genuinely moved.

She’s a better singer than Potts, I think; needs to support her lower register just a bit more, but wow, what a voice, and what a great, great video!

Thanks, Consolation, for posting about it!!

I think that she would do better to sing that song up a third or so–there were some VERY low notes and she can obviously go higher without strain. But the timbre of her voice is just so striking, and I thought her musical taste was superb: she was so moving without belting or indulging in excessive theatrics.

I can’t wait to hear her again. (I also can’t wait until she consults an eyebrow shaping specialist! Lucky her, she has a lot to work with. Better that than my scanty brows.)

She has a fine voice and is a very honest singer. I will be curious to hear how well she does on other pieces. This song seemed to explore the outer parameters of her range…I would suspect she cannot go much higher, certainly without shifting gears vocally. The low is what it is, not much more to do in that range. It will be fun to hear how she progresses.

I think that song only took her about up to a C. (And didn’t she do a great job with that swell!) From what I heard I’d think she’d be able to make it to an E or possibly even an F and still sound good, in the right song. I’d certainly agree that it doesn’t sound like she’s one to be frolicking around in the F to high C range!

When I hear someone like her, I always wonder what kid of training, if any, they’ve had. Potts obviously had had training: I don’t think anyone can sing opera credibly without it. She, on the other hand, might just have spent years singing along with original cast albums and gotten a few tips from a choir director or two…

I don’t watch American Idol and I have never seen a broadway play, but that was AMAZING

I dreamed a dream from Les Miserables

I dreamed a dream in time gone by
When hope was high
And life woth living
I dreamed that love would never die
I dreamed that God would be forgiving.

Then I was young and unafraid
And dreams were made and used
And wasted
There was no ransom to be paid
No song unsung
No wine untasted.

But the tigers come at night
With their voices soft as thunder
As they tear your hope apart
As they turn your dream to shame.

And still
I dream he’ll come to me
That we will live the years together
But there are dreams that cannot be
And there are storms
We cannot weather…

I had a dream my life would be
So different form this hell I’m living
so different now from what it seemed
Now life has killed
The dream I dreamed.

If I was a Broadway producer, I’d be sending her a contract ASAP. Thanks so much for the link. Can you picture her as the nun in Sound of Music? She’d be perfect for so many roles, and I think she’d be able to act. She has got zest.

That was lovely. I know nothing about music so am judging as a listener with no knowledge of c and f but I cried because of her lovely voice and because we all tend to judge on first impressions and that was a nice reminder to be better than that.
