So in middle school, I was suspended and had to do some community service for it. But now that college apps are comung up, I dont know if I have to disclose any of that information since it happened 6 years ago. I don’t want to put no for “disciplinary violations” and then the college find out I lied when they see any report that might include it.
Also, when questions say “any educational insitution” does that mean middle school and high school? Or just high school?
I’m 95% sure that the disciplinary action portion on CommonApp only represents your time in high school. You should be fine.
Just high school (9th grade and above). Colleges don’t care about your having pulled the cat’s tail when you were two years old.
Common app no longer asks disciplinary questions, but some colleges still do (in their questions section.) I just took a look at a couple of schools I know that do, and they all limit the question to 9th grade and later. Obviously check all your schools, but I doubt any want middle school disciplinary info.
Here’s Cornell’s question this year, as an example:
For UF specifically, it states “…any other type of misconduct at any educational institution?”. So with other schools saying just high school, I’m going to assume that “any educational insitution” is just h.s.
I know there is a poster on here who deals with this professionally— but I can’t remember their name.
Can anyone tag them for this student?
I think it’s safe to assume that events from middle school are not relevant unless a college explicitly asks about them.
Don’t use your real name on this board
