I hear sometimes VMI students can go to w&L parties, but are Asvu Students allowed? I take some of my education classes at w&al actually because of apartnership

I have a current W&L student so will do my best to answer and/or get input from them before giving you feedback.

Ecit: a quick Google of ASVU resulted in “atlanta society for vascular ultrasound” so I need more information.

Are you referring to Southern Virginia University in Buena Vista? It appears to be 6.9 miles from W&L (13m drive, per Google).

Can’t one attend a party, no matter who they are, if someone lets them in ? Like when I was in hs we used to crash SDSU parties.

I think most colleges are really on the lookout for underage drinkers at these parties now. Big change since many of we parents were in college when anyone could walk in.

Heck…at our high school, guests are not allowed at the school dances except as a guest of one classmate (that’s ONE guest per classmate).

My understanding is W&L fraternity parties are open to all students, unless it’s a “formal” event. Meaning most anyone can attend regular parties. One will still be carded at a bar, but there will be plenty nonalcoholic options.

However, I’ve only had input from VMI parents so I can’t answer your question.

So a hundred years ago when I went to W&L the Southern Sem (as it was called at the time) students generally did not come to our parties. I remember one when they did, but as an LDS school they had much stricter rules at the time.
