Swarthmore 2010 Transfers

I never saw a thread for Swarthmore, so I guess I’ll create one. I got my letter in the mail today, or rather my grandfather did since I use his house as my permanent address. I actually laughed out loud when I saw that I got rejected. Although I was interested in Swarthmore, it was never remotely the same for me as Penn or Brown, both of whom have admitted me. Still, I of course understand how other people could care more for it, and it is a legitimately great college. To anyone else who got in: congratulations; to any wait listed people: I hope you eventually get in and wish you luck; and to all the rejected people: don’t put too much weight on it. I’m sure you’re great student(s), and that you’ll get in somewhere else as good or better

P.S.

Professor recommendations were very positive, from a History professor and an Arabic professor. I have no major, but said I was interested in Islamic Studies, and general studies concerning the Middle East. EC’s are too numerous to include, but some highlights include being treasurer of the Prison Initiative at Vassar, vice president of Amnesty International in high school, founder and chairman of Student Democrats in high school, and a member of my high school forensics teams. My high school was a very competitive one in Singapore, where I lived for 6 years; I also lived in Paris and Shanghai. Beyond that I took a Chinese summer course at Fudan University in Shanghai between 10th and 11th grade. Hope this helps you guys.
