<p>I may be in the minority, but I think song and monologue choices are very personal. It’s difficult, if not impossible, for people on a relatively anonymous forum such as this to suggest songs or comment on the appropriateness of certain songs for a particular auditioner. We hired MTCA to assist us with song and monologue choice, and I have to say that they spent a lot of time getting to know my D and choosing perfect material for her. These particular songs and monologues would not necessarily be perfect for anyone else, even someone with the same voice type. I know this can be done without coaches, but for us it made it worlds easier. I guess my point is that you need to pick material that is not only vocally right, and age appropriate, but right for your son as a person and performer. And since we don’t know him, it is really hard to help with that (beyond advising on whether a song is overdone or not age appropriate).</p>
