Sweet Lou's closing!

For those who care, there was an article in today's Northfield News about Sweet Lou's waffle place. As of January 1, they are closed. The article said someone may be interested in purchasing the place but no deal is yet in finalized.

Hope no one had gift certificates that were not yet redeemed.

I was also sorry to hear that River City Books is closing.

Sweet Lou's was one of my favorite Northfield places when I visited. :(

Wait... Is this the waffle place?

Aww man! I'm going to Carleton in two weeks and I was looking forward to eating there /:

Can you say "recession"? Fortunately, the store's general manager is bidding with a silent partner to purchase Sweet Lou's and re-open under the same name, same menu next month. Hopefully the deal will go through.

That's a shame, but not surprising. I don't think Sweet Lou's got a lot of business outside of the Carleton community. There's only so much of a market for $6 waffles with relatively trendy toppings in rural Minnesota.

what? Noooo! Their waffles were so good. :(

What a neat, wonderful, tasty little place. I'm a parent, who's only been there twice, but my heart is broken. But dietcokewithlime is right. It's pretty pricey for a small college town in the rural midwest. :(
