Switched at Birth

Anyone watch this new show? I found it last week while looking for a fall-back channel for baseball. It’s got a hoky premise - two girl babies switched in the hospital at birth, raised by radically different families. The discovery about the switching happens when one of the girls does a genetic sort of test in HS. You know, if one of your parents is an A and the other is a B then they can’t have a 0+ child, or something like that. The sort of twist is one of the girls is deaf. Well acted, interesting storyline.
I was intrigued by this when I saw a few of the promos. I haven’t seen the show, though. The other day I noticed it’s available for free download in the itunes store. I considered putting it on my iPad, but for some reason I can’t remember, didn’t.

Sounds like Kimberly Mays/Arlena Twigg.

My D and I watched the first two episodes today. I’ve got to say the way they are handling all this issues (ignorance, doubt, trust, co-parenting, economic differences, etc) is really smart and the acting is much better than most ABCFamily shows. This show (along with our guilty pleasure, pretty little liars) might stay on the DVR.

One of my daughters saw the promo for the show and asked me if I thought there was any possibility that she was switched at birth. After I got done laughing, I realized that she was actually asking. I had to explain that kids born in her generation are tagged before they ever leave the delivery room, so she was stuck with us.

^yeah, I did have to apologize to my just-like-me-and-her-dad-daughter and say how sorry I was that she didn’t have another mother across town so she could meet the hunky neighbor and sneak out to go tagging with him. (oh, and for not being drippin’ rich either!)

She said she would survive.
