Switching Degrees..too late? Help!

Hey, I’m a Class of 2014 Brown. So on my application I applied for a Bachelor of Arts degree, and I really want to switch to a Bachelor of Science degree since I’ll be going into Medicine in the future.

Is the B.S. a better degree for this? And is it too late to change degrees since they’ve already accepted people into either degrees?

You aren’t too late. Under the old rules, you could change your concentration (AB vs. ScB is included) until the last business day before commencement, however, now you can’t switch beyond some point in your 8th semester. Of course, you need to fulfill all of the class requirements if you are changing concentrations at the very last moment…

In any case, medical schools claim not to care what you study in undergrad. They say you should study what you are interested in. As long as you do well in the requirements (and perhaps a few more) you will have no trouble going into medicine.

In fact, you haven’t made any choice yet at all. When you get to Brown, there will be essentially no record (aside from for statistical purposes) of what you listed on the application.
