Switching schools - moving back to the US but where ?

<p>Hi all !</p>

<p>This is my first time posting on a forum about colleges haha, but I’m trying to figure some stuff out for September 2012 and am having some difficulties.</p>

<p>I’m currently an undergrad at the American University of Paris - and while I adore Paris and everything about it, I want to come back to the US for a variety of reasons. It’ll just be for a year as of now, to see if I want to finish my degree at AUP or transfer completely - but I have no idea as to where.</p>

<p>I’m looking for a public or private (but not too expensive) university that requires between a 2.5 and a 3.0, a fun/nice area, preferably a college town but as long as I can get around just fine without a car I’m happy ( there’s obviously no point in buying a car for just a year… and I know that the public transportation isn’t as accessible as it is here), and a good psychology program. Another thing is that my father will be Austin TX, and because I want to be geographically closer to him, I’m looking more along the lines of LA, CA, CO…</p>

<p>Any suggestions ?</p>

Have you checked to see if you will be considered in-state for TX? UT would be cost prohibitive if you are not. Also, many/most schools will require two years of course work in that school if you want to graduate from them. I don’t know if AU would not enforce that.</p>

<p>Do you need to be in school next year at all? This could be a great opportunity to get a job related to your career interest(s) or to have an internship. While you do that, you could think about your options for finishing your degree. If you find that you do like the state of Texas, you can investigate the requirements for in-state residency.</p>
