Switching Schools now?

I’m an incoming freshmen out of state to UC-Berkeley class of 2017. When I originally got into colleges this past spring, I didn’t even think about Cal. I was narrowing down my list to Wesleyan, Tufts, and Bowdoin. However, my parents were influenced by family members with bias against small liberal arts school, and basically chose me to choose between UVA, Cal, and NYU Stern, out of which I definintly liked Cal the most. However, my parents eventually saw that I wasn’t too happy with Berkeley after a month and contacted Wesleyan, who offered me a spot to join the class. However, they game me only a day to decide, and I dont know why, I got flustered and didn’t take it. Now I’m deeply regretting that, and was wondering if it’s worth contacting them again? Also, what are the chances Bwodoin would be open to something like that? Do colleges even do this? The Haverford admissions officer did tell my parents they would keep a spot for me all summer if I was interested, but I don’t want to be that close to home.

Are you really not going to contact Bowdoin just because someone here says that they won’t let you in? It doesn’t matter what we tell you, you need to call the school(s) and ask. What do you have to lose?

Well, I was wondering if there was any sort of precedence, or if this was just crazy on my part, but your absolutely right, I should contact them regardless. I guess this was just a way of externalizing my fears/anxiety about the whole situation. Thanks!

If Haverford is leaving a spot open, there’s always a chance that another school will do the same.

Best of luck!

You have nothing to lose but I really doubt Wesleyan will have a slot open for you. You’ve already been given two bites at the apple. For other schools it will just depend on how much they really want you.
