The article says he was into martial arts, and it’s not unusual for someone to have “practice” swords. Wierd that there’s a ad on the left side of this page for handmade swords including the statement “We Make The Finest Japanese Swords Available”. Context based advertising I guess.
shivers

Ding ding ding, we have a winner. The local news is reporting it was indeed over a woman. They are saying the assailant saw a girl he liked dancing with the victim…FIVE months ago! Jeesh, has he been stewing over a dance for that long???

Shrotri “liked” a girl. He wasn’t dating, wasn’t married to her, she had no interest in him and had Dean of Students tell Shrotri to leave her alone. According to her, Shrotri has been emailing her since 2005 but that she “really does not know him on a personal level”.

Tawfik danced with the girl. Didn’t date her, didn’t marry her, didn’t sleep with her. Apparently, just danced with her.

Shrotri attacked Tawfik for dancing with a girl he liked 5 months later and after driving from Delaware (where he lives). He was so mad about the dancing that he told officers to kill him as he stood over Tawfik with the sword.

GP, you asked “who owns a Samarai sword.” You have been to the campus lately, ya? It’s filled with manga nerds LOL. My roomate freshmen year had one in the room before his mom saw it and took it back home.

At first I thought this topic was about the weirdos at GT that have the plastic-duck taped- pvc swords. You know, when they see someone on campus from the opposing (insert something weird) they are compelled to duel each other at that moment. I experienced one plastic sword fight in my days. One too many.

I’m sure several kids on campus either own or want to own a Samurai sword…

Yes, unfortunately there are. I hear there is even a wapanese frat on campus. There is also an anime convention on campus (as well as Dragoncon [?], which is in downtown every year). Not my cup of tea, but I have to admit some pretty funny stuff comes out of Japan that I would never have heard about if it weren’t for those guys.

The only ones I’ve ever heard of (via news) are AOD (SF), ComicCon (SD and NYC), and DragonCon (ATL), so I assume those are the big 4.

Surprisingly, that’s actually bigger at other campuses. Website: [Humans vs. Zombies](http://humansvszombies.org/) There’s a 42 minute video explaining how big the game is on other campuses. At one point in my life I actually watched it. The documentary crew did a good job capturing some of the interesting psychological elements going on in the game.
