SxSW tragedy.

The driver who attempted to flee the scene, had a previous DUI as well as drinking underage.
The car had also been stolen from a Fort Hood soldier.
Prayers go out to the family and friends of the dead and injured.

My friend had just left the scene of the accident before it happened…Crazy what could’ve been…

My hometown. :(

Is treatment mandated for DUIs?

I hate drunk drivers.

Hate is a strong word…

I really, really hate drunk drivers. I hope he never has a breath of fresh air again.

He obviously has a severe drinking problem, and so young.
He is very lucky the police only used a stun gun.
However, he picked the wrong state to be charged with capital murder.

The deaths occurred while he was committing a felony: the stolen car and fleeing police. It is said on the news he faces over 100 years in prison for the two homicides and 20+ aggravated assaults. I don’t think treatment will be needed. In every ordinary (no one killed) DUI conviction I’ve seen over the past 20 years the convict is required to attend treatment meetings and pay a fine to install an ignition lock. They also must get special very expensive insurance to drive to and from work or school. All in all it costs about $10000 with fines and attorney fees and future insurance rates.

He already had one DUI, so I wonder if he even had a valid liscense?
