Symbolic Systems Masters Program

Just how prestigious is this program? Would it be worth it to fall ~160k in debt just to attend this program?

Assuming you’re referring to Stanford, I’m not familiar with the program, other than the fact that it’s some blend of CS and math, but I can say with certainty that it’s not worth 160K of debt.

No, it’s not worth $160,000 in debt, because the kinds of career options it opens don’t offer $160K worth of salary to repay that debt.

Isn’t that the degree Marissa Mayer has? Anyway, I also think that’s a bit too much debt to handle…maybe it was better back in Marissa’s school days.

Symbolic systems is essentially cognitive science under another name.

Marissa Mayer has a BS in symbolic systems and an MS in computer science. She finished her MS in 1999, when the overall cost of the degrees was most certainly lower.
